Pentland Lothian was founded two years ago to allow me to pursue a lifelong passion for all things woodworking. It began by simply repairing shipping damage to some imported antiques and since then the scope of work has grown into cabinetmaking and woodturning. None of this is new to me though, as I have been interested in woodworking since my early teens and did run a workshop in Toronto some years ago.
Cabinetmaking is my true passion and I prefer to build smaller, one-off pieces since I work alone, but I continue to restore and refinish furniture. My workshop is set in woods behind my house and has the usual array of machinery, but I also have an impressive collection of old and contemporary hand tools that are used on a daily basis. This ensures that my skills are continually honed and a client does truly receive a hand-made piece of furniture.
The name "Pentland Lothian" is derived from the Pentland Hills in the Lothian counties south of Edinburgh, Scotland, where I hail from.
